Coral farm at outrigger konotta maldives resortCoral Plantation Program
Our Marine Biologist is on hand to explain all the facets of coral farming, our goal along with Outrigger OZONE is to help and nurture the house reef back to its formal glory, planting new coral beds, and encouraging the old ones to flourish while also controlling the widespread devastation of the crown of thorns by depopulation. Our coral beds are constructed of reusable steel reinforcement rods which we attach concrete tablets with branches of coral on them over the course of time the corals grow into a substantial size where we can remove the tablet and place new ones starting a new population over again.

Our Marine biologist performs workshops for everyone to come and enjoy, just pop down to the dive center and enquire more about our workshop.

Though Maldives was culturally influenced by other traditions, Maldivians have built and preserved an exclusive cultural identity. Accordingly the Maldivians converse using a language of their own; In 1153 AD Maldivians converted to Islam and the religion has transformed and introduced new fundamentals to the Maldivian culture. Folklore Maldivians inherited a treasure trunk of ancient mythology and folklore that was passed orally through generations. These myths cover fascinating stories on various aspects of island life.
